Our next content strategist has been diagraming sentences since they were young, either wrote in a personal diary or journaled constantly while looking for new ways to tell a more complete, compelling story. We’re looking for the person who may have been annoying to others by correcting sentence structure or challenging a word in Scrabble. We get you. Frankly, we know that you do not appreciate a poorly constructed sentence and you’re willing to use your red pen or strikeout tool to make sure the content is tight.

As a word connoisseur, our new team member will have the degree necessary to tout this accomplishment and also be able to recognize the value of AP Style and to effectively debate the Oxford comma. In addition, this person will be armed with technology prowess in platforms like Pardot, Hubspot, Marketo or Sharpspring and will know that Hemingway is still able to provide writing advice.

Responsibilities include:

  • Working with a small team to write content specific to assigned clients
  • Managing an editorial calendar to ensure timely publication of content for client lead nurturing campaigns
  • Bring content strategy and ideas to clients as needed
  • Identifying gaps in the client’s content and recommend new topics ongoing
  • Create proactive ideas for media relations opportunities
  • Work to provide responsive public relations when media need information
  • Write engaging and persuasive press releases

Job brief:

We are looking for a Content Strategist to develop written content for marketing and communicating our client’s business purposes, from:

  • Content mapping
  • Integrated marketing and communication plans

  • Campaign development
  • Manage the content needed for lead nurturing campaigns (we use

Content Strategist responsibilities include publishing content for the clients assigned to the team. It’s important that the Client Strategist understand the power of content and our monthly newsletter, tracking website traffic and user engagement and generating new blog post topics. If you have creative ideas about how to engage our audience online and have experience producing new content types, we’d like to meet you. Please share a portfolio or links to your published work, along with your application.

Ultimately, you will ensure our web content is on brand and adds value to existing and potential customers.

Responsibilities

  • Manage our editorial calendar to ensure timely publication
  • Identify gaps in our content and recommend new topics
  • Create style guides to use as reference
  • Proofread and edit written pieces before publication
  • Pitch potential article ideas to media
  • Schedule social media posts
  • Conduct keyword and SEO research to understand customers’ needs
  • Monitor web traffic and engagement (e.g. conversions and bounce rates)
  • Coordinate with marketing and design teams to illustrate articles
  • Follow industry-related news and generate ideas around trending topics
  • Review and update published content as needed

Requirements

  • Proven work experience as a Content Strategist or similar role
  • A portfolio of published articles
  • Experience in project management is a plus
  • Knowledge of Content Management Systems, like WordPress,
  • Basic understanding of HTML and web publishing
  • Familiarity with SEO guidelines and keyword research tools (e.g. SEMRush, Moz and Google Keyword Planner)
  • Experience using social media for business
  • Solid writing and editing skills in English
  • Time-management skills
  • Ability to guide and motivate team members
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Professional Writing or relevant field
